Breast Lift

Breasts have been considered a representation of femininity for a long time. Firm, uplifted, and vibrant breasts boost female beauty and self-esteem. In time, breasts might be saggy and out of shape due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, gaining weight, and genetics. Moreover, it leads to dissatisfaction among many women. Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) is a procedure that involves reshaping the breasts by removing excess skin, raising the breasts, and tightening the breast tissue.

Aging, weight gain, or weight loss could be some factors that lead to breasts sagging. Breast lift surgery differs from other operations in terms of surgical procedures. Following the medical examination, the selection of surgical procedures is made. All women who do not have any severe illnesses and have been breastfeeding for at least six months are eligible for breast lift surgery. People having their breasts lifted would want to have more firm, uplifted, and vibrant breasts.

Your doctor would do a medical examination before surgery. Then, you will be asked to stop smoking and stop using any anticoagulant (blood thinner), such as aspirin. In addition, you will also be asked not to drink or eat anything for six hours before the surgery.

Breast lift surgery is performed by a surgeon in an operating room. Depending on the size and shape of the breast, the size of the dark-colored area around the nipple, the intensity of the sagging, and, lastly, the elasticity of the skin, the surgical technique of the surgeon may vary. No matter which technique is used, nipples and saggy skin are reshaped, then the nipple is returned to its original position, and lastly, excess skin is removed.

Breast augmentation and lifting can be performed on patients with saggy breasts and those who want larger breasts.

Breast lift surgery takes about 2-3 hours. Surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It is not expected to have too much pain after surgery. After a week, the swelling will go down. Cosmetic wound stitches are used during the surgery. Between 10-12 days, stitched wounds will heal. After a month, the breast curve returns to its original state, even though it feels firmer than desired. Patients may return to their normal activities in 3-4 days, while continuing sports activities takes nearly a month.

The results of breast lift operations are quite long-lasting. The procedure mainly helps people gain self-confidence and solve their appearance problems. After recovery, even though the process is irreversible, due to pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and breastfeeding, you may develop sagging again.

Some breast tissue may be elevated from the larger breast at the time of a lift in an effort to enhance symmetry.

Usually the day after the drains are removed, but you can wash yourself prior to this. Baths and hot tubs are not a good idea for 4 weeks after surgery to keep your swelling down.

While recovery time may vary, you should generally expect to take one week off for an administrative or desk-type job.

The best candidates for breast lift surgery are healthy, emotionally stable women who are realistic about what the surgery will finalize. In women with tiny, sagging breasts can see the best results. Breasts of any size can be lifted, however the results might not last as long in heavy breasts.

It is quite common to mix breast lift surgery with alternative procedures like breast augmentation, liposuction, a tummy tuck or cosmetic facial surgery.
